Reality as Illusion, Part 1

The saying goes that reality is an illusion, albeit a very persistent illusion.  This is of course very true in both senses.  The physical world is a forcing function - it insists that things go in a particular way, and enforces consequences for attempted violation - at least this is what it seems to do.  It took spirit architects millions of years to build this physical plane we inhabit.  It is a small piece of the entire reality of being, we must always remember.  Perhaps we contributed to the architecture at some point.  But, why did we choose this life in the physical plane?  It is very simple when you think about it.  In the spiritual planes we are free to do many things.  Just as we can think just about anything in our minds, the same with the spirit world - we can fly, appear in places without travel, know things and do things only by thinking.  We can expand to enormous size and contract likewise.  There are not many boundaries in the spirit world - at least not as many as we encounter in the physical plane.  So, again, why did we choose this life?  Well, this life is a training ground that the architects have built over millennia.  We descend into this plane to gain the experience of an architect who wishes to build things that are more or less persistent.  Since the spirit world is rather fluid free and changing, if we wish to understand how to build something more persistent and enduring, this this physical world is a perfect place for such training.  We feel pain.  We are constrained by what we incorrectly call The Laws of the Universe, or the Laws of Science, mostly described by Newton and Maxwell in Physics, and Mendeleev in Chemistry.  These laws are for the most part unforgiving.  However, if you are a builder, and architect, and engineer, or something similar, when you use these laws as guard rails in the creation of news things, then we can have power over the physical world in creation like never seen before in the last few hundred years or so.

Thus, we chose this physical world because in some sense we wanted to understand how to become architects.  It is a training ground like no other we can find in the spirit world.  The spirit world is like smoke or a vapor where awesome things come into being, and then vanish into nothingness.  The physical world is less fluid and vapor like.  We encounter stones and rocks here that can last for a few thousand years.  Some living things can last maybe a hundred or a thousand years, but those are extremes.  Thus, physical reality forces persistence upon us.  However, if you are spiritually intelligent, you know that even this plane of existence is very malleable and will respond to the architect, when we remember what we learned in the spirit world.

What did we learn in the spirit world?  That thoughts are real, and all we have to do is think or will something, and it usually happens.  The problem is that it is soon gone!  Like a dream!  During dreaming, we are out of our bodies reconnecting and recharging our spirit selves since we cannot survive without this infusion of spirit.  Life is dependent upon the spirit world for this recharge process during sleep.  The solid constraints of the physical world drive us insane without the recharging we receive at night when our spirit leaves our bodies to refill with energy from the higher planes of existence.  Some of us meditate or use other spiritual practices to recharge not only our physical bodies, but some of our higher level planes that we wish to participate in like mental planes, emotional planes, and the first few lower levels of the spirit planes like creativity, clairvoyance, healing, and transformation of being, if we have the strength and capabilities.

Thus, when we learn - or remember - that thoughts are real, we experiment in the physical world with this process.  Eventually, we learn how to shape the physical world in our thoughts using the two-fold magic formula of Will and Imagination.  We learn that which we persistently Will and Imagine, we draw toward ourselves.  The universe will conspire to bring into existence that which we most energetically Will and Imagine.  It is a law of the universe.

Thus, many spiritual traditions instruct us on the Seven Virtues or the Seven Deadly Sins and the like.  Why is this, and why are all the spiritual traditions saying virtually the same things?  Because, we chose to be architects, my friends.  We chose this world so that we may create and build, and learn the techniques of persistence according to the rules of physical reality.  Thus, our task is to make thoughts real on the physical plane.  In Christianity, this is called Making the Word Flesh.  Thus, when we use our minds and cultivate the Seven Virtues, we will draw toward ourselves the good fruit of the Virtues.  When we think and dwell upon the Seven Deadly Sins, we draw into ourselves these bad things, because we know for certain that thoughts are real, and the universe conspires to help us create the realities we imagine and will!  That which we Will and Imagine will manifest itself in our lives - It is The Law of the Universe.  Why?  Because we are architects!  We chose to Make the Word Flesh.  This physical world teaches us how to do this.

What happens afterward?  After we have finished our work on the physical plane, we return to the spirit world a more enlightened being capable of creating spirit creations with More Persistence!  We will become creators of Great Works that no longer vanish in to the smoke and vapors of the spirit world as they once did before our experience with the training ground of the physical world!

This, my friends is why reality is an illusion, albeit a very persistent one!
